Writing a History

Working with members of Sefton Older People's Forum, we are compiling a publication of the oral histories and images, as a print booklet for libraries, archives, friends and family to showcase ways in which older people contribute to the active life of a region.

The process of collecting and curating these stories involved 18 older people directly, plus a Graphic Designer, a Museum Performance specialist, and a Media artist.   The audience and readership will extend far beyond the borough.

About Sefton OPF

The booklet draws on personal diaries, family photos and informal archives, plus the oral history interviews gathered for the film to create a unique collection.

The contributors are all members of Sefton Older People’s Forum and many are members of Sefton Partnership for Older Citizens (SPOC), too.

Sefton has got so many people who are above retirement age. And you meet up with the other members socially and for companionship - Brian Clark

For 15 years Sefton has had an Older People’s Forum group organised around the townships of Sefton Borough. This started off with two groups in the North and the South, but this has grown to include specific areas. The forum is open to older people to get involved in planning public and social services developments and is open to anyone over 60 in Sefton Borough.
