Theatre critic Basem Sadek in Cairo, Egypt, join us with David Woods and Jon Haynes of Ridiculusmus, in rehearsal on their new adaptation of Hamlet in Melbourne Australia.

The discussion covers Ridiculusmus's devising method and work towards a new touring production, Alas Poor Yorick (touring UK in 2024), and Basem Sadek surveys the history of adaptations of Hamlet in Egypt.

Cup of Shaay is a series of podcasts and videos about cultural interactions between English-speaking and Arabic-speaking world, in particularly interactions around Egyptian film, theatre and wider culture.

We hope the recordings will be of interest to a wide audience including language learners, translators, and artists.
